Ahmed Sadoon is an Iraqi director, screenwriter and actor. He studied theatre and cinema in Baghdad and has performed in several festivals in Iraq and around the world. He has won several awards, including one for his short film "Last Seen". He has been a refugee in France since 2017.
During his six-week residency from November to December 2018 at La Chartreuse de Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, he finalised the writing of his play Darbona and began the work of directing it with French actors. This play evokes Iraqi society after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime and the disintegration of this society, in particular of families. It tells the story of five families who argue after finding rubbish in the middle of the street they live in.
