Each Heritage Site for Culture sets out a policy or programme for residencies, in synergy with its history and responding to aesthetic, social, environmental, civic and scientific issues.
Residencies hosted by the Heritage Sites for Culture are characterised by a coherent link between modernity and heritage, the promotion of culture and the involvement of local residents. They promote dialogue between the arts and other disciplines, and in particular encourage original creative work. Residency programmes encourage meetings between resident artists, audiences and the local area.
The ACCR itself also coordinates two residency programmes in cooperation with its members and the Ministry of Culture – Odyssée (since 2003), Nora (since 2016) and NAFAS (since 2021, with the support of the french Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well).
