With the support of the French Ministry of Culture, the Association of Cultural Encounter Centres (ACCR) coordinates the ‘Odyssée’ residency programme. The programme is aimed at foreign artists, researchers and cultural professionals who are not living in France and who wish to develop their projects within French CCRs.
Since 2003, more than 750 artists and culture professionals, representing 84 different nationalities, have taken part in the programme. They work in a variety of fields including music, architecture, crafts, art, theatre writing, animated film, photography and journalism.
The programme is aimed at foreign artists, researchers and culture professionals who do not live in France. Successful applicants are hosted by a CCR whose artistic or scientific activities are in line with the resident’s planned project. The Odyssée residency programme enables a French cultural organisation and an artist from outside the country to develop an intercultural dialogue.
Odyssée residents are supported by specialist professionals and benefit from being immersed in French culture within a exceptional heritage setting. Residents are provided with free accommodation and, wherever possible, the technical resources required for their project –resources are supplied by the CCRs to support the tangible discovery and exploration of the French cultural landscape. Residents are also given a maintenance grant, and associated travel costs are reimbursed.
