Hatem Hadawi/

Actor, writer, and acting and writing instructor

Hatem Hadawi was a Nora laureate in 2021 and in 2025.

Hatem is an actor, writer, and acting and writing instructor from Deir ez-Zor, Syria. When he was in his homeland, he had a great love for observing and studying human behavior through body, language, dialogue, and human performance in life. While studying in Damascus and before traveling to Turkey, Hatem joined a group of theatrical artists who introduced him to the theatre. Since then, he has devoted himself entirely to this art. After the outbreak of war in 2011, Hatem developed his tools as a professional through his participation in numerous workshops and advanced courses with many artists and directors around the world. He became a trainer and director of actor preparation workshops in Turkey and later in France.

Additionally, he worked on developing his tools as a writer as a means of solidifying his research into the hidden aspects of the human psyche and as a means of understanding the events he experienced during the war in Syria by reproducing and transforming memory into living energy for continuity.

Hatem is also active in organizing creative writing workshops and works on his own projects related to theatre and cinema. Hatem uses theatre and writing as a way to understand human consciousness, as a space for exploration and dialogue with each person's inner space, and as a way to delve deeper into the unknown places within the human soul.
