The Chinese artist Liu Yi graduated from the China Academy of Fine Arts in 2016, and in 2017 was awarded the short film prize at the HUA Film Festival.
Inspired by early Chinese art films and experimental animation, Liu Yi seeks to reflect the experience of nature and life through her work. Her first works, Origin of Species, Chaos Theory, A Travel Inward, Into the Void and A Crowd has been Calling for a Whole Day bear witness to her interest in experimental animated films. She uses a variety of mediums including painting, animation and video, at the same time exploring the full potential of exhibition spaces to find a ‘parallel world’, different from reality.
