Animation filmmakers of all nationalities, it's time to send in your application for the international residency programme at the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud! Applications must be submitted before 9 March 2025. The jury will meet in May.
This one-month residency is aimed at authors and directors of animated films who have a personal film project and need time for research, writing and creation in an inspiring environment. All formats are accepted.
To date, this residency programme has welcomed more than 240 animation authors and directors from 50 different countries and has contributed to the realisation of around 100 films: short and feature films or artistic installations.
Since 2018, the residency programme has welcomed artists in the spring (April) and autumn (October).
Applications are currently being accepted for the October 2025 residency and, for foreign applicants living outside France, also for the April 2026 residency. See the application instructions and schedule.
The artists who benefit from the residency at Fontevraud Abbey are selected partly on the basis of their applications, in the context of the calls for applications on this site, and partly in the context of partnerships (MIFA Pitches in Annecy, Plans Animés Prize in Angers, Aïcha Grand Prix in Meknès, etc.).
This residency programme is co-produced by NEF Animation and Fontevraud Abbey, with the support of the Pays de la Loire Region, the DRAC of the Pays de la Loire, the CNC, the SACD and the Odyssée programme of Association des Centres culturels de rencontre.
