Plateforme 10/

A new arts district in the heart of Lausanne

Plateforme 10

Elysee

Plateforme 10 is located in the centre of Lausanne, the capital of the canton of Vaud, on the shores of Lake Geneva. Inaugurated in June 2022, this new arts district brings together 3 museums in 2 extraordinary buildings.

HERITAGE SITE

Strategically located a stone's throw from Lausanne station, the site brings together the MCBA - Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts, the mudac - Musée cantonal de design et d'arts appliqués contemporains and Photo Elysée - Musée cantonal pour la photographie, dedicated respectively to fine art, design and photography. Located on a vast esplanade on a site once used by the railway industry, this multidisciplinary district totals more than 25,000 m2 entirely dedicated to culture right in the heart of the city. It provides a link between heritage and contemporary practices.

CULTURAL PROJECT

The centre's objectives: a platform for innovation in the service of culture and the public.

The ambition of Plateforme 10 is to be an open living space where cultural offerings abound, a place for innovation, discovery, exchange, debate, learning, reflection on heritage, experimentation and wonder: a unique arts district of international scope. The museums that make it up are in constant dialogue. They think beyond their own walls, bringing the site to life with an ambitious programme of events that offer a different take on art. They are also interested in the entire artistic production chain, from residency to distribution.

ACTIVITIES AND INITIATIVES

As well as temporary and permanent exhibitions, the museums offer workshops, lectures, screenings and outreach activities, with the aim of democratising museum practices and helping people to discover art in all its facets.

Plateforme 10 also lives to the rhythm of the many events produced by its teams or partners: film festivals, literature festivals, music festivals, comic strip festivals, performing arts festivals, etc. Each museum has a foyer and an auditorium in which it can host conferences, round tables and artistic performances. There are also two cafés-restaurants and bookshops.
